The Zapruder Film Mystery

Aug 15, 2014While serving as chief analyst of military records at the Assassination Records Review Board in 1997, Douglas Horne discovered that the Zapruder Film was examined by the CIA’s National Photographic Interpretation Center two days after the assassination of President Kennedy. In this film, Horne interviews legendary NPIC photo interpreter Dino Brugioni, who speaks for the first time about another NPIC examination of the film the day after the assassination. Brugioni didn’t know about the second examination and believes the Zapruder Film in the archives today is not the film he saw the day after the assassination. Drawing on Volume 4 of his book “Inside the ARRB”, Doug Horne introduces the subject and presents his conclusions.
As an LMU student in the early 70’s, we had a couple assassination conspiracy theory presentations by a young man named Rhodes (if I remember correctly). He presented a couple hours of stills, movies, records, etc. He showed a copy of the Zapruder film, explaining that 3 or 4 frames had been reversed so that it appeared that JFK’s head moved forward, not backward. He went through everything and to this day I believe that while Oswald may have had something to do with it, there were shots from in front. Shortly after that, Mr. Rhodes was killed in his Santa Monica apartment, and his home was ransacked.
The one thing that sticks out in my mind to this day is a photo taken from across the street from Zapruder. The motorcade was coming toward the photographer. There was JFK and Jackie smiling and waving…their Secret Service car was maybe 10-15 feet behind them with Secret Service officers looking around. Behind that car was LBJ’s car. His Secret Service detail had covered his car and the people in it with their bodies. And no shots had been fired yet.
I cannot believe the Warren COmmission report.
