Somewhere amongst the rubble is a CD by these guys that I got at an INFO conference many, many moons ago.
Here is the basic story of the recordings:
The Bigfoot Recordings – A True High Sierra Wilderness Story
Challenged by skeptics, but time-tested by scientific analysis, these accounts bring to the reader an exciting report of unsurpassed vocal interaction between humans and Bigfoot. Recorded on reel-to-reel tape in 1972-74 at the famous Sierra Camp in California. Take the journey into this unsurpassed phenomenon and decide for yourself; is Bigfoot real, or just the product of a colorful imagination.
Volume 1 CD is 40 minutes. Produced in 1996 by Ron Morehead, it features very clear vocalizations captured in 1972 by Alan Berry, the investigative reporter brought into camp. Narrated by Jonathan Frakes (Commander William T. Riker) of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” fame.
Volume 2 CD is 40 minutes. Produced in 2003. Written, produced and narrated by Ron Morehead. It features rhythmic rapping-pounding sounds, and almost understandable phrases emanating from these creatures. The very same sounds that have been thoroughly analyzed by a former military cryptologic linguist as having a discernible language!

I wonder if they used a Nagra?
