“Point Lake Outcrop in Gale Crater”
This image of ‘Point Lake’ was taken by the Curiosity rover’s Mastcam on February 20th, 2013 (5.4°S, 137.8°E). Point Lake is an outcrop that Curiosity encountered early in its mission. Its texture is unique for Gale Crater; there are obvious vesicles (voids), which is a feature common in volcanic rocks.
The outcrop is about half a meter tall.
