Hey, everyone. This lady is a special friend and I want to help her. She has a caregiver company here in Connecticut and took great care of my late Aunt Clare every day for her first year of being bed-bound. Awesome stuff, truly.
She is a tireless, caring soul who has done an incredible amount of work in her hometown in Ghana, where she built and opened a school for the kids there years ago. I remember her showing me and Clare videos of the place and local area.
Really excellent stuff, as it is a real thing done by a real person, as opposed to some nameless charity corporation, who I always have trepidation with as I believe most of those donations go to salaries and marketing. This is real. The locals revere her and elected her their Queen! Yeah, really. She has been paying for this out of her own pocket, bless her, but with all the covid crap it is putting a real hurt on things as she explains below.
Please consider contributing, okay? The dollar goes a long way in Ghana. Thanks and God bless you.
URBAN ANGELS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL was opened 8 years ago in a small farming village called Obogu in the Asante Akyem South Region of GHANA, which is approximately 4 hours drive from the capital Accra. The opening of the school was based on the idea that although the children were in a village and had no prospect of ever leaving the village to travel overseas a better form of education could be brought to them. The school has 70 children currently registered but less than half attend school each day now because parents cannot afford to pay the small amount of fees asked to pay the teachers and provide daily meals for the children. COVID-19 has made the situation worse as the few parents who were working and able to give small amounts are now unemployed and forced to keep their children at home. To keep the school open I have single handedly been paying the teachers and ensuring the children get at least one hot meal a day and offered one full term tuition FREE, but now I can’t do it by myself anymore and I’m trying to avoid closing the school and putting the teachers out of work. The cost of paying 6 teachers is $180 per month. Can you help? Do you know people that can help fundraise, donate or sponsor a child? Would be grateful for any kind of help and ideas to keep the school open. Thank you Nana
