Number, Reality & the Prehistoric Origins of Measure | Adam Tetlow | John Michell Memorial Lecture
MegalithomaniaUK
Jul 5, 2020The field of megalithic science, like the ancient sites themselves, stands at a crossroads between the intuitive and the scientific. The study of ancient metrology re-discovered by John Neal and John Michell reveals previously unrecognised insights into the intentions of stone age architects to hold these two worlds in balance through the practice of harmonic measure. From the earliest stone circles to the pyramids and temples of antiquity, this talk will explore how hidden in plain sight in the traditional measures of every nation are the keys to startling insights of prehistoric consciousness into the nature of number and reality.
Adam Tetlow is an artist, writer and teacher exploring the intersection between art, mathematics and ancient thought. He studied with Keith Critchlow at the PSTA, and has spent the last five years working closely with John Neal. He is author of ‘Celtic Pattern’, ‘Ancient Metrology’ and contributor to ‘Quadrivium’, ‘Trivium’ and ‘Designa’ all published by Wooden Books. He teaches traditional geometry and Celtic art courses with the PSTA and with www.sacredartofgeometry.com in Sussex.
