This rare aerial photograph, rare because the area is restricted, shows an odd looking light colored rounded area on the top of the Sphinxs head.
In this ultra close up, we see what can only be a man-made patch and what looks like a round cover plate. To which we would collectively say … WTF?

Ok, dig it… This next shot was taken on December 15, 1925. No patch. The ubiquitous red circle is clearly showing an open hole! And even better, the inset is showing a person looking out at us from this mysterious hole.

And here is the dude in the hole a bit bigger!

Turns out that in 1914, a Harvard University Professor by the name of George A. Reisner excavated this hole in the Sphinxs head. His excavation revealed far more than just a simple crater. His findings ewere so fantastic that the entire affair has nearly been expunged from History. Thank your favorite deity that they didnt get it all!
Oh, Lordy!

From the December 30, 2018 ATS thread that has enlightened me…
In 1914, newspapers around the world reported his findings, including a temple of the Sun and also the sarcophagus of the first Pharaoh #Menes. These findings have now been erased from history books and Egyptian authorities deny the Sphinx chambers’ existence.

It’s an interesting story and worthy of attention.
I wonder why they they pump out so much water from under the Sphinx.
A separate scientific update states that 260 cubic metres of water are being pumped out every hour through drainage tubes. That’s 6,240 cubic metres or 6,240,000 litres of water per day. An Olympic swimming pool has 2,500,000 litres. In short, water of a quantity equal to almost three Olympic swimming pools is pumped away on a daily basis from underneath the Sphinx!

Whoa.
But wait up, dear readers, here comes the toothy bite of reality…
In searching for more on this Reisner fella, I ran across this telling bit within a thread about the Hall of Records and Edgar Cayce:
reply to post by Nurelic
I’m not sure when Edgar Cayce performed his sleeping prophecy about the Hall of Records but I thought this newspaper article had relevance to his exposure to the idea.
On April 10, 1913 there was a Journalistic Hoax disclosure in the Egyptian Gazette regarding recent discoveries by Professor Reisner. The newspaper that advertised this was called The Advertiser, Adelaide, Friday, April 11, 1913. I corrected the electronically translated text so it could easily be read.

SECRETS OF THE SPHINX.
PROFESSOR REISNER’S DISCOVERY.
A JOURNALISTIC HOAX.
CAIRO, April 10.
The “Egyptian Gazette,” which was the first newspaper to announce Professor Reisner’s remarkable discoveries “in a temple within the Sphinx’s head,” now asserts that the whole story of the “discoveries” was fabricated by American journalists.
Several weeks ago a report appeared in the English newspapers in the following terms:-
The results of the investigations of Professor G. A. Reisner, the Harvard Egyptologist, of that mysterious Egyptian monument known as the Sphinx, have been communicated to the authorities of the Harvard Semitic Museum and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
Inside the Sphinx the professor found a temple dedicated to the sun. It is older than any of the pyramids, and its date is somewhere about 6,000 B.C., the most ancient in Egyptian history. Mena, or Menes, as his name is sometimes spelled, was the first king of Egypt of whom modern scientists have discovered historic record.
The tomb of Mena, the king who made himself a god, and who fashioned the Sphinx, is also within it. There are tunnels leading into caverns which have not yet been penetrated, for the work has only been gong on for six months. The Sphinx is carved out of the natural rock, but within are the caves and buildings of a city of gold, which was, perhaps, once open to the air.
Inside the Sphinx are also tiny pyramids, although the Sphinx was built long before the Great Pyramids. A pyramid in those days was a sundial, according to Professor Reisner, and the Sphinx was a sun god. The pyramid of’ Cheops is an absolutely accurate timekeeper. According to Professor Reisner Egypt of to-day is one vast city, the edge of which has been scratched and the interior of which probably never will be disclosed.
Professor Reisner hopes to discover among the relics of the Sphinx the secrets of the Egyptian priests, whose magic is believed to have been marvellous. Pictures of the inside of the head are being made, and will be shown at Harvard and Lowell Institute courses next winter. Professor Reisner says he is having unusual difficulties in his work, for the Arabs who are assisting him refuse absolutely to sleep in the chamber. They say there are devils there, and that the man who sleeps there will die.
I found this artistic rendering of the supposed chambers within the Sphinx.

This image was taken from Charles Russel’s Photodrama of Creation which was released in 1914. You can clearly see the small pyramid within the Sphinx which would indicate a connection to the article above. I wonder if Edgar Cayce had this image in mind when he performed the sleeping vision of the Hall of Records?
Here’s a link to a website that shows pictures and texts of the Photodrama of Creation. There’s a larger image of the picture I posted if you want to see a better view of the chambers. There is a rectangular room (the proposed Hall of Records?) in the left arm of the Sphinx, or it could be in the right arm because it is a cross-sectional view.

And then there is the reply to the original post from Harte, one of ATS’ mainstream archaeologists, with a bit more of that harsh, biting reality:
Perhaps attention should have been paid, then.
Or perhaps you should have looked for an archived newspaper that reported this instead of relying on (apparently) pinterest.
Reisner never reported anything like that story as far as anyone can tell.
If you want to know what Reisner thought about the sphinx, click here
Sorry to burst bubbles. Reisner never did ANY major work on the Sphinx, as far as I can tell, other than to show that it was almost certainly created during Khafre’s reign, and that was reported around the world.
Harte
Well, obviously the good Professor showed nothing of the sort, since, the fact is the body of the Sphinx has heavy water erosion… and that means it needs to be at least as old as it would need to be to get heavy water erosion… which timelines show to be in the Younger Dryas period from 13,000 to 9,500 years ago.
Keep in mind that Egyptologists HATE scientific fact and will go through all manner of horse-puckish behavior to deny it. The head, now, could well be from that time of the Pharohs and probably is because it is clearly a major modification of what was originally there.
Gosh, I can not believe this had me going for a while. Sigh. But for sure there are things known about Egyptian ruins that are kept secret. Gosh a few years ago they had the whole Sphinx surrounded by a tall wall of sheet metal for a week while they did serious excavations. They never said a word abut what they found or did not find. They are so weird. If they found something good… the tourists would come running. Go figure.
be well
