Wynn’s ‘Start You Bastard’ Engine Additive Advert
Sep 21, 2008
This is a pisstake advert done by the funny guys from Full Frontal in the mid 90s. There was a whole bunch of Wynn’s Oil and fuel Additives on TV at the time, so they did one of their own.
Oh, man, this is so, so very good!

“The Snow Cruiser”—Antarctica’s Abandoned Behemoth
Mar 20, 2019
What happened to the Antarctic Snow Cruser? In 1939 a fifty-five feet long, twenty feet wide monster, weighing 37 tonnes and designed to have a range of over 8000 miles arrived on Antarctica. Built in the late 1930s for Richard E. Byrd’s Third Antarctic Expedition, it was one of the most incredible ventures in engineering history, not just in its size and scale but also her failure as an exploratory vehicle and subsequent disappearance.
In this video, I look at the background, design and disappearance of the Snow Cruser and ask what happened to this incredible vehicle (I’m afraid it’s not good news).

Corrections: The Ferguson tractors show at roughly 4:00 are not the tractors Byrd used during his second expedition. This is placeholder footage of Fergressons used in the 1950s as I couldn’t find any photos or videos of the tractors used in the previous ‘little America’ expedition. Upon Reviewing my footage I found there was actually a clip of the tractors in Byrd’s ‘Discovery’ film made about the second expedition, linked to 26:24 in this video- youtu.be/fnmxsj-prhM?t=1577 Twitter………………….►twitter.com/calumraasay Instagram…………….►instagram.com/calumraasay Website………………..►calumgillies.com Facebook……………..►facebook.com/calumgilliesart Questions or queries to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Fascinating info and imagery on this strange vehicle all packed into a nice, thorough piece. So many links it took a while to get it post ready, yeah, but all good stuff, eh.

Wow, this is fab. I am totally smitten with the Reo Tractor… it is just so wonderfully shaped.

This Riley-Ford powered design that was apparently being used to promote General Balloon Jumbo tires in this undated photo. Details about the car are sketchy, but it was apparently built by Libby Body Works of Kansas City, Missouri as a rolling billboard for the Young Advertising Company using conventional Ford Model “A” running gear and a Riley OHV conversion.
We have some info on the famous Riley Four Port Head, but would like to learn more about this teardropper. Check out our post on The Old Motor and let us know if you can help us with more info.

Note the roof mounted rear vision periscope on this Riley-Head teardrop streamliner
Earlier this month, we made reference to the teardrop streamliner craze of the mid-1930’s in our post about Buckminster Fuller’s Dymaxion car . One such car that we didn’t see in the various sources that we came across is this Riley-Ford powered design that was apparently being used to promote General Balloon Jumbo tires in this undated photo. Details about the car are sketchy, but it was apparently built by Libby Body Works of Kansas City, Missouri as a rolling billboard for the Young Advertising Company using conventional Ford Model “A” running gear and a Riley OHV conversion as seen (below).

I love this thing. It just looks so freakin’ cool.
This one has a 2.3 liter engine.
This might be the coolest Jeep ever built. It has eight-wheel-drive, a rear-mounted V8, and of course it has a rifle. Somehow, it is both for sale and startlingly adorable.
Three Willys Jeeps gave their lives to build this thing. All the wheels steer and they’re all powered by a 327 Covette motor in the back.
It also looks like a giant green ladybug with big, cute eyes.
If you’re in Colorado and you have something more than $8,001, you should scoop this thing up and hit some off road trials in it. Save it from a life of parades and climate-controlled garages.

But I don’t think it looks like a ladybug.

Marcos Mantara LM600 Race Car V8 Sound in action!
Sep 25, 2019
The Marcos LM600 is one of the cars that I always wanted to see in real life after discovering it many years ago playing GTR2 and Race ’07/GTR Evolution on my pc. The car was unveiled in 1995 and raced in various championships such as the BPR Global GT Series & FIA GT but also in various endurance races from 1995 to 2003. Its racing life continued even after in the British GT, Spanish GT Championship and in the International GT Open till 2011. It was moved by a Chevrolet LT1 6.0L small block V8 by KMS Racing Engines which was able to produce around 600hp. Watch it in action around Monza Circuit during the 2019 Monza Historic weekend by Peter Auto, racing in the Endurance Racing Legends series!

I have always loved Marcos conveyances for the gnarly good looks, vicious power and neato handling… I don’t remember this one, though!
Which is unusual for me. So I am thrilled with this. This thing is the Marcos of all Marcoses! Wait. Sp? Marcosi?

Sam Posey and Ronnie Bucknum piloted Mr. Chinetti’s NART Ferrari 512S (chassis #1014) at the 24 Heures du Mans of 1970.
This car is yet another classic originating from my hometown. Luigi Chinetti’s North American Racing Team was only a few miles from my hut. My dear friend worked on this vehicle full time. Well, mixed in with working on customer’s cars, of course.
Exciting days. Imagine it being your day job … pit crew … Le Mans … how cool is that?
