As usual I am observing and attempting to make myself useful. How? By putting my brand spanking new ZOOM H1 2 track recorder through the ringer.
I had set it to 24/96 already, of course and we filled up the 2GB card it came with toot suite. Understandable as at that res you only get 55 or 56 minutes for 2 gig. It can take a 32, though, which is a good thing. Anyway the acoustics in there are not the best by any means but much improved from the start after Zach put up some foam and drum gobos a while ago. I wanted to make it hard on the tiny little thing so I lay on the floor and held it up after sitting on a rather old drum throne started to annoy my coccyx. Which wasn’t long. I was still up there for this first one.
This first recording is a Blues progression with band leader and lead singer Zach just makin’ stuff up and everybody that was playing was just going with the flow.
Here it is in OGG format. Much better than MP3, but still compressed. Hey, I’m a soundman, what can I say?
And in MP3. If you insist : )
And here’s our cover of ZZ Top’s nifty La Grange!
Tim always knocks me out with that drum lick.
Audio is not too awful bad. Given my torture scenario and where the mics were, it is surprisingly good… Only a bit of volume boost on this file, no EQ or anything else. Nothing at all was done to the first piece.
Anyway, I would, we all would, really like your opinion on what you hear. Please leave a comment! TIA: )
