When You Wish Upon A Star – sung by Jiminy Cricket (Cliff Edwards)

Jun 25, 2010

This review is from: Pinocchio (Disney Gold Classic Collection) (DVD)

The one-two whammy of audience and critical indifference to “Pinocchio” and “Fantasia” killed Walt Disney’s desire to experiment with the limits of animation in the 1940s. From then on, play it safe was his motto. This may be one of the greatest tragedies to beset popular American culture in the 20th century; despite the depths of pretension and kitch in “Fantasia,” it was at least evidence of a spirited mind in pursuit of the unattained — but “Pinocchio” must have broken old Walt’s heart. There are visual effects in this movie that remained unchallenged until the digital age, and it’s worth recalling that every single one of them was drawn by hand. It has one of the most beautiful and exciting musical scores in the history of the movies (I can’t hear Cliff Edwards’ high, pure falsetto holding that final note of “When You Wish Upon a Star” without chills), a deeply plangent sense of emotion that never tips over into bathos, and a wealth of detail that is still staggering after 65 years. But it may be too dark a movie to attain the popularity of more cheerful Disney cartoons like “Snow White” — although even that one can frighten the tots.

“When You Wish upon a Star” is a song written by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington for Walt Disney’s 1940 adaptation of Pinocchio. The original version of the song was sung by Cliff Edwards in the character of Jiminy Cricket and is heard over the opening credits and again in the final scene of the film. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year and has since become an icon of The Walt Disney Company. The American Film Institute ranked “When You Wish Upon A Star” seventh in their 100 Greatest Songs in Film History, the highest ranked Disney animated film song, and also one of only four Disney animated film songs to appear on the list, the others being “Some Day My Prince Will Come” from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs peaked at nineteenth, “Beauty and the Beast” from Beauty and the Beast peaked at #62, and “Hakuna Matata” from The Lion King, which peaked at #99. The song reached the top five in Billboard’s Record Buying Guide, a predecessor of the retail sales chart. Popular versions included Glenn Miller, Guy Lombardo, Horace Heidt and of course, Cliff Edwards. In Japan, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark, the song has become a Christmas song, often referring to the Star of Bethlehem. The Swedish language version is called Ser du stjärnan i det blå, roughly translated: “do you see the star in the blue(sky)”, and the Danish title is “Når du ser et stjerneskud”, which roughly translates as “When you see a shooting star”. In Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway the song is played on television every Christmas Eve’s day in the traditional Disney one-hour christmas cabaret, and the gathering of the entire family for the watching of this, is considered major Scandinavian tradition. In 2005, Julie Andrews selected the original Cliff Edwards recording for the album Julie Andrews Selects Her Favorite Disney Songs. The song has — along with Mickey Mouse — become an icon of The Walt Disney Company. In the 1950s and 60s, Walt Disney used the song in the opening sequences of Walt Disney anthology television series. It has also been used in multiple versions of Walt Disney Pictures’ opening logos — including the present-day logo — since the 1980s. The ships of the Disney Cruise Line use the first seven notes of the song’s melody as their horn signals. Additionally, many productions at Disney theme parks — particularly fireworks shows and parades — employ the song.

Late Quaternary prehistoric birds – Video Learning –

Wiz Science™
Sep 29, 2015

“Prehistoric birds” are various taxa of birds that have became extinct before recorded history, or more precisely, before they could be studied alive by ornithologists. They are known from subfossil remains and sometimes folk memory, as in the case of Haast’s eagle from New Zealand. Birds are generally believed to have evolved from feathered dinosaurs, and there is no real dividing line between birds and dinosaurs except of course that the former survived the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event and the latter did not. For the purposes of this article, a “bird” is considered to be any member of the clade Neornithes, that is the bird lineage as exists today. The other lineages of the Aves also became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous. Taxon extinctions taking place before the Late Quaternary happened in the absence of significant human interference. Rather, reasons for extinction are stochastic abiotic events such as bolide impacts, climate changes, mass volcanic eruptions etc. Alternatively, species may have gone extinct due to evolutionary displacement by successor or competitor taxa – it is notable for example that in the early Neogene, seabird biodiversity was much higher than today; this is probably due to competition by the radiation of marine mammals after that time. The relationships of these ancient birds are often hard to determine, as many are known only from very fragmentary remains and due to the complete fossilization precludes analysis of information from DNA, RNA or protein sequencing. Cameras Capture Bizarre Thunderbird Shadow During US F1 Grand Prix

Jan 1, 2018

A bizarre image captured by video cameras during the United States Grand Prix in Austin Texas appears to show a huge bird zooming around the racing circuit. On lap 48 of the race, the shadowy figure of the bird was visible to viewers at home who noted that it seemed enormous compared to the Formula One vehicles. No one has been able to identify what species of bird could have cast the shadow due to the speed of its flight over the circuit. However, it’s incredibly large size suggests that it is a very rare bird indeed with some Twitter uses suggesting that it might even be a Thunderbird.

Cleopatra meets Julius Caesar – “Rome”

Cleopatra is smuggled back into Alexandria in a carpet

Rome : Rome – Season 1, Episode 8 Caesarion

She is … stunning !

Some truths that most volk are completely unaware of:

The first person to legally own slaves in America was a black tobacco farmer named Anthony Johnson in the 1650s. American Indians owned thousands of slaves in America. Slavery included all races. Slavery was extremely common and unquestioned for thousands of years in Asia, Africa and the middle east. Black on black slavery was extremely common for thousands of years in Africa.

That’s how slavery was started in America. They were purchased from other blacks. You have to love the blacks enough to tell them the truth. 200 million slaves were sold in the Arabic world before America was a country. Over there they castrated them. America is one of the first places to end slavery. If they stayed in Africa the chances that they’d have aids is like two out of three. But the fact is if you are white in America you are 25% more likely to die by police than if you are black.

Which completely goes against your narrative for using blacks for a vote but it’s the truth. 90% of all interracial crime between blacks and whites is black on white. Blacks are 11 times more likely to commit a hate crime than whites. Black males age 18 through 35 make up 4% of the population yet they commit over half of all the murders. Tony Timpa. Its identical. He was white. Of the four officers in the George Floyd incident only one was white.

Every year about 150 more whites are shot and killed by police than blacks. In 2010 black youths committed 6 times more murders, 3 times more rape, 10 times more robberies, and 3 times more assaults than white youths per capita. In 2008 black youths who made up 16% of the youth population accounted for 52% of juvenile crime arrests. Including 58% for homicide and 67% for robbery.

George Floyd held a gun to a pregnant lady’s belly when he was doing a burglary. And he was on meth and fentanyl when he died and showed no signs of strangulation. He also had pre existing heart conditions and died of a heart attack.

Trump is not fighting us. He is fighting the globalists who control the mainstream media. The ones that have everyone brainwashed to destroy america because they’ve sold us out to our enemies all for their own power and wealth because they are possessed by evil. God Bless President Trump. God Bless America
